Capricornia - Midnight Oil - Capricornia (CD, Album)

 · With Capricornia, the Australian political rockers return with their first album of new material in four years. More than 25 years into their career, there's nothing surprising about Midnight Oil 's approach at the turn of the millennium, but Capricornia finds them delivering their expected blend of melodic, muscular, and thoughtful guitar rock. They're still as righteously indignant as ever over the 7/10(86).

 · Capricornia, Midnight Oil sounds younger than ever. It’s not that the band is incorporating new trends into its music (though some unusual textures find their way into “Capricornia” and “Under the Overpass”)—but simply that the songs have a focus and momentum usually reserved for groups at the start of their careers.

  1. Capricornia, Midnight Oil's final recording, is the band's most consistent from start to finish since Blue Sky Mining. After several listens, I think it deserves to be considered as one of 6 essential Midnight Oil records to own (along with 10,9,8, Red Sails in the Sunset, Diesel and Dust, Blue Sky Mining, and Scream in Blue (Live))/5(68).
